My friend, Rich, is probably one of Bruce Springsteen’s biggest fans. He’s orchestrated a big tailgate for a concert at Giants stadium in late July for about 30 of us. I’m definitely not the biggest Bruce fan, but a summer night of tailgating followed by 3 hours of rock and roll – hell yeah, count me in. Already excited, he started to quiz me on songs, albums, lyrics – the world according to Bruce. I don’t know!? ThunderRoad and Born to Run were my answers to all his questions. I figured they had to be right at some point. I had to remind him that the amount of songs I actually have on my iPod, 450, is the amount of just Bruce songs he has on his. Obviously disappointed in me ( I guess you can’t please everyone) he selected a few Bruce CDs for me “to study” before the big day. And as I reached to grab them, I couldn’t help but notice that he was wearing an old Springsteen tour shirt. Completely faded. Was it from the 39th concert of the 75 you’ve gone to? No actually this was last summer’s tour. Really washed and faded, you could barely make it out.
